TALLINN

Tallinn is one of the best-retained medieval European towns. Its web of winding cobblestone streets has been preserved nearly in its entirety. The Old Town of Tallinn has been inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List. The golden era in Tallinn’s history lies in the period between the early 15th and mid 16th centuries. Tallinn had attained fame and a powerful role in the Baltic Sea area through its membership in the Hanseatic League. Economic prosperity provided a better possibility to defend the city and encouraged the development of architectural and artistic potential.

Tallinn’s Old Town is rich in concert venues. The medieval Town Hall, the impressive House of the Brotherhood of Blackheads, the acoustically superb St. Nicholas’ Museum-Concert Hall and the Kanuti Guild Hall are only a few examples of the unique settings that Tallinn offers to its music lovers.

Today Tallinn is the capital of one of the most rapidly developing countries in the Baltic Sea Region. During the 10 years the medieval capital has developed into a modern and open city with tall glass and steel buildings, illuminated signs of major international companies, large shopping malls.
